Dive into the World of Renewable Natural Gas

RNG Dashboards

Commercial digester sites collect large volumes of sensor data to support process control, but the sheer volume can overwhelm operations staff. Our Data Dashboards turn raw site data into clear visualizations of the key biochemical parameters, so engineers and operators can spot problems and respond sooner.

  • Core process parameters: Total Solids (TS), Volatile Solids (VS), Volatile Fatty Acids (VFA), and Alkalinity (ALK) are tracked and trended over time.
  • Stability indicators: VFA/ALK ratio and Organic Loading Rate (OLR) are plotted together on a single graphic, making the link between loading and process stability easy to see.
  • Digestion efficiency: Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) and Total Ammonia Nitrogen (TAN) data add insight into digestion performance and ammonia inhibition risk.
  • Trace minerals and metals: Nickel (Ni), Cobalt (Co), Iron (Fe), and other trace elements are monitored and trended to confirm that microbial nutrient needs are met. If needed, supplements can be added to the digester before deficiencies affect gas production.

All visualizations are published to an interactive, web-based dashboard, giving site operators, engineers, and managers the same up-to-date view from any location. This same data can also be used to support the facility’s reporting requirements.

Carbon Intensity Analysis

Our team’s experience with CARB’s Tier 1 DSM model can help guide engineers design a facility with the best possible CI score.   We also have developed a suite of in-house computer models to analyze biogas production and energy consumption. This data gives a full picture of the plant’s operation and helps the facility designer choose equipment configurations that  result in the best possible CI score (and maximum revenue.)

Co - Feedstock Analysis

Quantalux can support plant operators at anaerobic digester facilities to assess the impact of adding co-feedstocks like food waste to sludge or manure. Operators can determine optimal feed rates by evaluating various biochemical parameters in the digester after adding food waste, brewery wastewater, FOG, beverage waste or dairy waste. Our team can also help operators choose the best feedstocks to accept based on energy and tipping fees, as well as the optimum use of the bioenergy produced (based on competitive alternatives.) We can also determine the cost-benefit of accepting a given feedstock by balancing the increased revenue with disposal costs.
